Don’t look now but Kanye West’s charity just vanished into thin air! The Kanye West Foundation, focused on preventing teens from dropping out of high school, has abruptly closed without any reason merely four years after it launched.
The news became public knowledge when its executive director Joseph Collins basically told colleagues he was out of a job, according to PopEater. In an e-mail he wrote, “I am reaching out to let you know that the Kanye West Foundation has officially closed it doors after a successful 4+ years of programming and events [sic].” He added, “It has been an incredible experience working with Kanye and the board to realize his mother’s vision and I am honored to have been given the opportunity to lead the Foundation.”
As reported by The Boombox, although Kanye’s name was on the foundation, he didn’t fund it all by himself. The foundation filed taxes like a private charity and contacted corporations Kanye has done business with like Madison Square Garden. They donated $151,74! Overall, the charity raised almost $500,000 each year.
