Kardashians Ditch Debit Card Deal

After only three weeks on the market, the Kardashian sisters' prepaid debit card has already been axed. The card, which featured a picture of Kim, Khloé, and Kourtney Kardashian on the front, was supposed to help teach teens about financial responsibility, but in fact carried overwhelming — and possibly even illegal — fees!

After Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal opened an investigation into the legality of the Kardashian Kard's hidden and "outrageous" fees, the reality stars decided to call it quits with MasterCard.

According to their lawyer, the controversy surrounding the card was not only damaging to the Kardashians' young fans and cardholders, but to the sisters themselves.

A lawyer for the trio sent a letter to The Revenue Resource Group, the company which created the card, stating that the Kardashians were fed up with the "negative spotlight" since Blumenthal announced his intention to investigate.

The lawyer wrote: "The Kardashians have worked extremely long and hard to create a positive public persona that appeals to everyone, particularly young adults. They have been successful in doing so because they are recognized as honest, ethical, and fun-loving individuals who are kind and caring to others."

The letter continued: "Unfortunately, the negative spotlight turned on the Kardashians as a result of the Attorney General's comments and actions threatens everything for which they have worked."

The lawyer has a point. The fun, family-oriented, party girl brand the Kardashians have created doesn't really go with a product whose users are subject to a possible $100 in fees a year, plus additional fees for ATM withdrawl, cancellations or even talking to a phone operator. That just doesn't sound fun at all.

Then again, maybe the sisters should have learned a little more about the product they were printing their face onto before going through with it.
