In happier days, Katie Holmes used to like to recount how she had a schoolgirl crush on Tom Cruise — but one former classmate says Katie's crush went beyond typical.

"It's crazy to think she married him. It was her dream come true," says Angela Domschot, a former classmate at Notre Drama Academy in Toledo, Ohio. "In religion class, when we were 16, we'd have to say prayers to keep someone safe and out of harm's way. Katie would say it for Tom Cruise. We did it every day so she'd have said thousands of prayers for him."

Katie's long cherished crush on the movie version of Tom may have helped her to overlook the areas where their views clashed — like religion. "We were all shocked when she turned to Scientology," says Angela. "But when you're in love with someone you'll do what thy want."
