If you thought Katy Perry would knock it out of the park at the Grammys tonight, you were right. But let's just say, her ex-husband Russell Brand might not agree. The singer dissed the comedian on stage, debuting her new song "Part of Me," which is pretty much a story of the desolation of their short-lived marriage.
Katy may have walked the red carpet in a pastel, blue sequined gown, but she ditched that sunny look for the stage, changing into a tight, silver and gold body suit as she got ready to show off her new single.
Also missing were the lollipops and fireworks that usually surround Katy during performances, instead there were dreary colors, lots of flames and shattered glass… OUCH (literally).
Katy, who signed her divorce papers last week, opened with her hit "E.T." and then moved into "Part of Me," but you know what, more power to her!
Read some of the lyrics below and you'll get exactly what we mean about the "diss" factor.
"Cause you chewed me up and spit me out like I was poison in your mouth. You took my light, you drained me down that was then and this is now. Now look at me, this is the part of me that you're never gonna ever take away from me. Throw your sticks and stones. Throw your bombs and your blows, but you're not gonna break my soul."
"I just wanna throw my phone away, find out who is really there for me cause you ripped me off, your love was cheap was always tearing at the seams. I fell deep and you let me drown but that was then and this is now."
What do you think of Katy's new song?
