Sister Wives stars Kody Brown and his wives Meri, Janelle, Christine and Robyn have been under investigation by Utah County authorities for their polygamist lifestyle, but now the family is fighting back.

According to the Salt Lake City Tribune, the Browns are expected to file a lawsuit on Wednesday challenging the Utah law that makes polygamy illegal.
The lawsuit will reportedly use the 2003 U.S. Supreme Court decision in Lawrence v. Texas that made state sodomy laws unconstitutional intrusions on the "intimate conduct" of consenting adults.
The Browns will reportedly ask the federal courts to make the same ruling that polygamy is their own "intimate conduct" between consenting adults, as long as they're not breaking other laws, and is therefore an unconstitutional intrusion.

In a statement through his lead attorney, Jonathan Turley, Kody said, "We only wish to live our private lives according to our beliefs."
Kody and his wives were placed under investigation shortly after their TLC show, Sister Wives, aired in 2010 for violating the state law prohibiting polygamy.
