Kristen Stewart has been busy promoting Snow White and the Huntsman, which hits theaters June 1, but last night at a screening of the film in Los Angeles, Kristen revealed some new information — the musical inspiration behind her fierce portrayal of Snow White.
The actress, who walked the red carpet alongside co-star Sam Claflin and director Rupert Sanders, confessed that Adele's music influenced her when shooting scenes for the movie.
“I happened to just be listening to that album at the time,” Kristen told Access Hollywood about Adele’s chart-topping record, 21. “The extremes of her emotion — when she’s got levity and she’s got light, it’s so light and when she’s down, it’s like devastating, and it just reminded me of the movie, and yeah, I love her.”
Kristen admitted she needed to pull inspiration from a darker place, especially because she was playing a strong young woman who could ride a horse, something she's terrified to do herself!
“[It] scares me so much,” Kristen said. “I feel like when you watch this movie, you’re going to see genuine discomfort and genuine pain and fear, which is so much cooler than people faking it. Yeah, so riding the horses was not my favorite thing.”
But Kristen was happy to tackle such a powerful and motivated character.
“It’s so rare that a girl gets that opportunity," Kristen said of playing a bada** heroine, "and we definitely do not shy away from an arse kicking."
