A new report from TMZ says that a legal guardian has been appointed to care for 17-year-old Frances Bean Cobain, an action that usually occurs when a parent — in this case, Courtney Love — isn’t able to take care of her children.
On Friday, the court appointed Wendy O’Connor, Kurt Cobain‘s mom, and Kimberly Dawn Cobain, Kurt’s sister, to care for Frances. Courtney was not in court.
While the guardians don’t have power over Frances’ trust, established after her father died, they have been appointed for the good of her personal and financial well-being.
The court proceedings are sealed, preventing further specifics of the case from coming to light, but the move comes after a period of instability on the part of Courtney, says TMZ.
