Can’t jump across the pond as much as you’d like but love hearing all the latest celebrity and society gossip? London-based journalist Natalie Livingstone and fashion stylist Rachel Ingram give you the low-down on the celebrity and style scene in the world’s hottest city!
This week the Capital once again played host to a myriad of A-listers.
On Sunday, London’s Wireless music festival concluded with hotly anticipated performances by songstress Lily Allen and Jay-Z. Ever the doting wife, Beyoncé was on hand to watch her husband from the side of the stage. She was joined by Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna, who was accompanied by on-off arm candy Jesus Luz and daughter, Lourdes Leon. Even his royal highness Prince Harry put in an appearance!
Jay wowed the crowd with a spine-tingling set that opened with recent track “Run This Town” and finished with mega-hit, “Empire State of Mind.” A baseball cap-clad Madonna demonstrated why she remains the Queen on pop as she boogied throughout the night with best friend Gwyneth. The pair joined fellow VIPs at an after party where they sang karaoke tunes of Jay’s best hits as they quaffed liters of Armand de Brignac champagne.
The following night, über photographer Mario Testino paid homage to his muse supermodel Kate Moss with a party to launch his exhibition entitled “Kate Who?” Moss’s great friends Stella McCartney, Vivienne Westwood and Donatella Versace were there to celebrate. Kate, 36, looked every inch the style icon in a black asymmetrical Stella McCartney dress and Christian Louboutin heels. Meanwhile, Gwyneth Paltrow, who appeared remarkably fresh-faced after the Wireless Festival, showed off her toned legs in black shorts and a white blouse teamed with sky-scraper sling-backs.
Ardent admirers of Kate might be interested to learn that 18 iconic shots of the supermodel will be up for sale. Each has been enlarged to life-size proportions, of which only two or three copies are available. However, the price of having La Moss hanging in your den isn’t to be sniffed at. A previous Testino photograph recently sold for nearly £50,000 — that’s $70,000! And they say money can’t buy you love…
