Madonna didn't only diss hydrangeas at the Venice Film Festival. After a French reporter asked about one of her vociferous fans, Lady Gaga, the Material Girl didn't exactly express her appreciation for the "Born This Way" singer. In fact, she kind of questioned Lady Gaga's genuine interest in her!

Madonna told Le Soir (via E! News), "As for Lady Gaga, I have no comment to make about her obsessions having to do with me because I don't know whether her behavior is rooted in something deep and meaningful, or superficial."

Although Madonna's representative didn't have a comment right away in reference to the interview, she did tell E! News, "I do know that Madonna has said many supportive things about Gaga over the years." Lady Gaga's rep hadn't returned a request for comment but this could be perceived as a slap in the face to Lady Gaga since she received criticism for "Born This Way" as a rip off from Madonna's "Express Yourself."

Interestingly enough, Lady Gaga announced on The Tonight Show that she received an email from Madonna's posse supporting the new tune after Lady Gaga performed her song at the Grammys.

"You know, there is really no one that is a more adoring and loving Madonna fan than me," stated Lady Gaga. "I am the hugest fan personally and professionally."

That said, the rep for Madonna indicated to E! News that she was not aware of the e-mail.
