It looks like champion swimmer Michael Phelps won't be repeating his feat of winning eight gold medals as he did in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

OK! NEWS: THE IRS IS TOTALLY FINE WITH SWIMMER MICHAEL PHELPS

Although the incredible athelete qualified for eight events at the upcoming London Olympics, Michael has dropped out of the 200-meter freestyle.

Michael's coach, Bob Bowman, Tweeted that the swimmer was cutting the freestyle to give him the time and energy to focus on the 200 and 400 individual medleys, and the 100 and 200 butterfly.

Bob Tweeted: "@MichaelPhelps will be removing the individual 200 freestyle from his Olympic program. This will give him a full slate of 7 events. This change will allow him to focus more energy on relays for Team USA."

U.S. head coach Gregg Troy confirmed this decision. Michael will face fierce competition at the upcoming games from friend and fellow swimmer Ryan Lochte.

This comes just one day after fan-favorite and defending Olympic women's all-around champion Nastia Lukin failed to make the U.S. gymnastics team for the London Olympics.
