Michael Shannon Joins 'Superman' Cast

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's an evil general? Michael Shannon from Boardwalk Empire has officially joined the new Superman reboot, Man of Steel, as the evil General Zod. He'll go face-to-face against Henry Cavill, the new Superman.

According to the Huffington Post, director Zack Snyder released a statement: “Zod is not only one of Superman’s most formidable enemies, but one of the most significant because he has insights into Superman that others don’t. Michael is a powerful actor who can project both the intelligence and the malice of the character, making him perfect for the role."

And by the looks of it, Michael's joining an already star-studded cast! Amy Adams will play Lois Lane, Henry Cavill will leap tall buildings in a single bound as Clark Kent/Superman and Diane Lane and Kevin Costner have signed on to play Martha and Jonathan Kent.
