Miley Cyrus' New Album is "Freeing" For Girls

Miley Cyrus may be only 17-years-old but she's already embracing feminist values, singing for the sisterhood in her racy new record, Can't Be Tamed.

"It's just about freeing yourself from anything you think is holding you back," Miley tells MTV News. "And I think that's really important, especially for girls, because so many people are told, 'No, you can't do something,' or, 'You need to be this because Mom and Dad say that, teachers say this.' "

The teen has some sage advice for her young fans: "Really think about what you want to do for the rest of your life. There's a short amount of time, when you think about it, and no day needs to go by wasted."

In her song "Liberty Walk," Miley addresses a serious issue. "I wrote it for women that feel like they're stuck in abusive relationships, but it's a dance song," she said. "So you think that must be kind of a sad ballad, but it's a party song... It's about breaking free."
