Nelly has released a statement regarding the drug bust which occurred on his tour bus in Sierra Blanca, Texas, this week. In it, the rapper confirms that the drugs (and .45-caliber pistol that was also found) belonged to one of his staff members and asserts that no one else on the bus knew the illegal materials were on board.
"It is my understanding a member of my staff made an unfortunate decision to bring unlawful materials onto our tour bus that resulted in his arrest this morning, October 11th. Neither I nor anyone else on the tour bus was aware of his decision to bring these on board. Law enforcement officials in Sierra Blanca, Texas did not press charges against anyone other than that individual."
When the bus was detained at the same routine checkpoint where Fiona Apple, Chace Crawford, Armie Hammer, Willie Nelson and Snoop Dogg were busted, a dog detected "controlled substances emitting from the seams of the main entrance of the vehicle," a statement from Hudspeth County Sheriff's Office read.
Again, a duffle bag containing nine vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana collectively weighing more than 10 pounds, plus a small container of marijuana, 36 "very small" Ziploc bags containing .64 ounces of heroin were found in addition to the gun.
Staff member Brian Keith Jones admitted everything belonged to him, and no charges were pressed against Nelly or anyone else on the bus.
