Girls Gone Wild creator Joe Francis is no stranger to watching others lose control, but now he's facing prison time for his own bad behavior.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Nancy L. Newman has sentenced Joe to 270 days in the slammer after he was convicted of three counts of false imprisonment, one count of assault by means likely to cause great bodily injury and one count of dissuading a witness from reporting a crime. The charges came after 40-year-old Joe reportedly choked a woman and bashed her head on the ground multiple times during an incident at his L.A. home in 2011.

Though Joe's lawyer Steve Levine points out that his client "has always maintained his innocence," he says that the judge "still came to a very fair and measured decision."

Besides jail time, Joe will be on three years of probation, and he must attend 52 sessions of psychological counseling in addition to an anger management course.
