Liam Hemsworth's brothers, Luke and Chris, stepped in to the fray and arranged an intervention to end their younger sibling's engagement to Miley Cyrus, according to a new report.

The two were so "fired up" about their little bro's relationship with the 20-year-old singer that they reportedly sat him down with him in April and gave the 23-year-old Hunger Games star a stern talking to.

"They want him to end the romance for good," a source tells US Weekly.

And it seemed their intervention has worked—at least for now—as Miley and Liam, who have been dating for nearly four years, and got engaged last June, have put all wedding plans on hold and have been spending time apart.

Luke (L) and Chris Hemsworth (R) reportedly held an intervention to encourage their little bro to break off his engagement to Miley

The duo has been spotted apart a lot recently—Miley was flying solo at the prestigious Met Ball in New York on Monday night—and even when in the same town the two have been socializing separately.

"I'm not home with my boyfriend all the time. We work," she told V magazine recently. "Every week it’s 'Are they broken up? Because we don’t see a photo of them.' I don't have time go to Starbucks with my boyfriend every morning. I wish I did, but I don't.

"I'd rather chill at my house and be there for the time I actually get to spend with him. And then I'm at the studio all day. He gets up to work out at six and I come home at five from the studio."

She went on to explain that her new album is her overriding priority right now, not her relationship with Hemsworth.

"I put this record before everything, and I've never done that with anything," Cyrus said. "I've put too much into this record to put anything else in front of it."

The intervention report, if true, flies in the face of comments Luke made during an interview recently with Entertainment Weekly, where he praised Miley to the skies and claimed she and his brother "are a perfect match."

"She's great. She loves our kids, and our kids absolutely love her. She won our hearts," Luke said.

"I find her really interesting. I find her very articulate, and years in maturity above her age. But at the same time, she's very much like Liam.

"I think a lot of people don't realize that they are really, really in love. They actually are a perfect match in a lot of ways."
