Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux's two-week European vacation to France and Italy was the stuff of romantic movies — filled with famous sights, quiet dinners and the time to enjoy each other's company — but instead of ending in the engagement that everyone hoped for, it ended in tears.

Although Justin did propose, taking Jen's hand one night in Hotel de Russie in Rome and asking her to spend the rest of her life with him, she turned him down! "She feels like she only got the proposal because she pushed for it," explains an insider. "She doesn't want a guy marrying her because he feels some sort of pressure."
Jennifer flew to Paris on June 10 with Justin in high hopes that she would come back from this perfect vacation engaged. Certainly, Jennifer, 43, and Justin, 40, looked happy as they kissed while waiting for their car to spirit them from Charles de Gaulle airport to their luxurious suite at the Ritz-Carlton.
Despite the rain that dogged them, it was a happy first few days. The The couple was spotted strolling along the River Seine, dining out and shopping at Paris’ chic boutiques.

It’s nearly a cliché for couples to get engaged at Paris’ famous Le Jules Verne restaurant, set high atop the Eiffel Tower with glorious panoramic views of the City of Lights, but an insider says that a proposal from Justin was exactly what Jen was expecting when they dined there on June 13. When it didn't happen, she had a difficult time containing her hurt and disappointment.
