Teresa and Joe Giudice were back in court today in Newark, NJ to face two more charges of fraud after they were indicted yesterday. The stars of Real Housewives of New Jersey plead not guilty to the new charges.
Clad in matching gray suits with black coats over them, the Giudices were solemn as they entered the court. In an interview after their arraignment, Joe’s lawyer Miles Feinstein addressed reporters on the court steps. Watch his reactions here:
He went on:
“Both defendants pleaded not guilty, as they had previously to the other charges. There will be an explanation for these particular charges, which will come out at trial,” said Feinstein inside the courthouse. How confident are they that they’ll win? “We’re confident that we will give them the best defense… We don’t know who the jurors are. We don’t know what the reaction is, we don’t know what the effect of the Housewives show will have on jurors.”
“All I know is Henry [E. Klingeman, Teresa's attorney] is an excellent lawyer, and myself and our staffs have been preparing and preparing and preparing, and will continue to do it,” Feinstein said. “A lot is at stake here, not only for Teresa and Joe, but for their families, and particularly the children.”
Asked about the emotional state of the Giudices, Feinstein said, “Obviously, they’re concerned about their children, and themselves. It’s a worrisome situation. But we’re all working together and they’re working with us.”
