The lead-up to Oprah Winfrey’s final taping on May 17 is one of the most anticipated finale tapings of the year. While reports say that Will and Jada Pinkett Smith have been tapped as at least one of the final show’s guests, audience members lucky enough to snag a seat at Chicago’s United Center for the coveted taping will get double the excitement.
“We’re filming two shows back to back,” one invited audience member tells OK!. “It’s something the entire audience gets to be a part of.”
While Oprah is known for showering her guests with gifts, this time she’s asking her guests to give back.
“We are all strongly encouraged to donate children’s books,” the audience member tells OK!. “They told us we’re creating a historical moment together.”
Oprah isn’t getting left out in the gift giving either. On Wednesday, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley renamed the street outside Harpo Studios Oprah Winfrey Way.
The finale episode will air May 25, a fitting date to end the show’s 25-year run.
