Simon Cowell is certainly a fan of Rebecca Black, praising the 13-year-old singer in the press for her catchy ditty "Friday" which has over 38 million views on YouTube. Simon also pointed out that "weekday songs" always seem to cause a public outcry, likening "Friday" to the 90's song "Saturday Night" by Whigfield. But did Rebecca rip off the hit?

OK! NEWS: REBECCA BLACK'S CELEBRITY ENTOURAGE INCLUDES SIMON COWELL & NICOLE RICHIE!

Get the public angry and you will get noticed! He should know as his angry, rude, mean comments always made headlines when he was a judge on American Idol!

Rebecca, 13, is just pursuing her love for singing and how can we blame her?

Simon certainly doesn't.

“I’ve never seen anything cause so much controversy. I think it’s genius. The fact that everyone’s getting upset about it is hysterical. Any song to do with the weekend annoys you," the mogul told Entertainment Weekly recently. "It reminds me of ‘Saturday Night,’ do you remember that 1994 song by Whigfield? It’s what we call a ‘hair-dryer song,’ a song girls sing into their hair dryers as they’re getting ready to go out. But the fact that it’s making people so angry is brilliant.”

"Saturday Night" certainly has catchy, yet very simple lyrics as well, repeating the same two versus throughout the song.

Saturday night, I feel the air

Is getting hot

Like you baby

I'll make you mine you know

I'll take you to the top

I'll drive you crazy

Saturday night, dance, I like

The way you move

Pretty baby

It's party time and not one

Minute we can lose

Be my baby

Da ba da dan dee dee dee da

Nee na na na - be my baby

Da ba da dan dee dee dee da

Nee na na na - Pretty baby
