Redmond O'Neal Returns to Rehab

Redmond O'Neal is getting another chance to clean himself up. The 25-year-old son of the late Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O'Neal has been in jail since Dec. 29 when he was caught under the influence after receiving a 24-hour pass from a court ordered treatment center.

This will be the fifth trip to rehab for Redmond.

Judge Michael Tynan approved Redmond's release from jail,  reinstated his probation and enrolled him back into rehab, E! News reports.

"The plan for you is severe, and justifiably so," said Judge Tynan said at a hearing in L.A. today. "We all want you to do well, but it's up to you."

As for receiving 24-hour passes again, Judge Tynan said Redmond will "from time to time" but will be under strict supervision.

"Nobody has a crystal ball," Redmond's attorney Richard Pintal told E! about Redmond's chance of success. "Redmond has made considerable progress in the last 30 days. Redmond has earned this."

The move from jail to the treatment center is still several days away, Pintal said. Once he is transferred, Redmond will be expected to stay in the center for the next 6-12 months.

"The length of his stay will be based on the treatment team's decision," Pintal said as well as use of day passes. "He has to earn them—those are contingent on progress."

If he completes the treatment successfully, his sentencing for pending drug charges will eventually be dismissed.

Once Redmond finishes rehab he'll be placed in a sober living home.

Redmond will have a progress report in court on March 3.
