Ricky Gervais is standing behind everything he said at the 2011 Golden Globes and refuses to apologize for any of it.
“I’m not sorry for anything I said, because I’m not going to apologize for being true to myself,” Ricky told Piers Morgan on Piers Morgan Tonight (via PopEater). “I don’t care what people think of me. I care if I’ve done a good job, and I care if I’ve told the truth.”
If any of the celebrities Ricky directed jokes at during the show took offense, he doesn’t care.
“Just because you’re offended, it doesn’t mean you’re in the right,” he told Piers “A lot of people are offended by mixed marriage. It doesn’t mean they’re right.”

One possible star who may have taken offense at the jokes made at him was Robert Downey Jr. Ricky introduced him by commenting on his arrest record.
“Aside from the fact that it’s been hugely mean-spirited, with mildly sinister undertones, I’d say the vibe of the show is pretty good so far, wouldn’t you?” Robert said to the audience when he took the stage.
But Ricky doesn’t think he was really upset.
“Why would he be?” Ricky asked Piers. “He’s Robert Downey Jr. He’s the coolest man in the world. Why would he care?”
“There’s nothing you shouldn’t joke about,” he said. “It depends what the joke is. Comedy comes from a good or a bad place, and I like to think that mine comes from a good place.”
