Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inducts Neil Diamond, Alice Cooper

Aside from the Grammy's, last night's celebration may be considered one of the biggest nights of the year in the music industry! The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's annual induction ceremony took place in NYC and offiically inducted Neil Diamond, Alice Cooper, Tom Waits, Darlene Love, Dr. John and Leon Russell. In true music form, after all of the speeches the musicians jammed the night away!

Among the highlights, according to The Associated Press, Bruce Springsteen backed Darlene on guitar and John Mayer joined Russell in a ballad, "A Song for You." And yes, Neil apparently had the crowd dancing on their feet to the hit "Cherry Cherry."

Neil was literally off the plane from a 25-hour trip from Australia and joked with Paul Simon on stage. Paul noted that Neil was eligible to inducted since 1991 and simply asked, "What took so long?" As for Neil's response? "It's Barbara Streisand." Referring to his duet with Barbara for "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" Paul added, "It's not rock 'n' roll. I don't even think they let that DNA near the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame."

Among other highlights, in true Alice Cooper form, he wrapped a snake around his neck during his acceptance speech! And yes, he performed three of his band's hits while wearing a shirt that had fake blood splashed on it. He noted, "We've always been a hard-rock band. We just wanted to decorate it a little differently."
