Ryan Gosling is ecstatic that his film Blue Valentine was switched from NC-17 to R. In fact, Ryan says the only reason why there was a debate in the first place about the sex scene in the film is because he and Michelle are just really good at their jobs!

"The sex felt real — it wasn't sexy or 'a sex scene', and that's why we got into trouble," Ryan tells UK's Guardian (via Huffington Post). "You shouldn't be penalized for doing a good job."

Ryan and Michelle really go into their roles and took them seriously.

"Most movies when you're acting you're trying to block out the lights and the trailers. Here, you had to remind yourself you were making a film," he explained. "Michelle and I found it hard to take off our wedding bands when it was over. We'd built this castle and then had to tear it down."

And Michelle is equally as proud as Ryan for the finished product of their oral sex scene in the film.

"I thought, 'I've never seen that before in a movie and I'm proud to be the first. Good on us for making that happen,'" Michelle recently told Reuters (via Huffington Post). "As the woman in the situation that was in question, I found absolutely nothing scandalous, tawdry or disgusting about it."

Have you seen Blue Valentine yet? What did you think of the scene in question?
