Ryan Murphy Slams Kings of Leon for Being 'Self-Centered' After Passing Up 'Glee'

It's uncommon for a musician or group to decline an opportunity to take a bite out of the phenomenon that is Glee. But the Kings of Leon have been vocal about keeping their music off the hit FOX show. The diss, however, did not sit will with the show's creator Ryan Murphy, who now has a strong opinion of the popular indie band. 

Last summer, the Grammy-winning group famously declined to have their music featured on Glee.

“We could have sold out so much more,” lead singer Caleb Followill said in an interview. “We turn stuff down constantly.”

Ryan and some of the Glee gang recently sat down with The Hollywood Reporter, and he really held nothing back when expressing his feelings about KOL.

"They’re self-centered assholes, and they missed the big picture ... They missed that a 7-year-old kid can see someone close to their age singing a Kings of Leon song, which will maybe make them want to join a glee club or pick up a musical instrument."

The band replied: "We’re not sure where the anger is coming from."
