Sandra Bullock made a donation Friday of $1 Million to Doctors Without Borders Emergency Operations for Haiti Earthquake relief efforts.
Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) received a $1 million donation from Sandra on Friday.
The actress made the donation to support the organization's emergency medical operations responding to the devastation caused by the Jan. 12 earthquake that struck Haiti.
"I wanted to ensure that my donation would be used immediately to meet the needs of the Haitian people affected by this catastrophic event," Sandra said.
Currently, each of MSF's existing three medical facilities in the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince, have been partially damaged.
Patients are being treated under tents in the Pacot area of Port-au-Prince in front of what was La Trinité trauma hospital and MSF rehabilitation.
These makeshift facilities have treated more than 2,000 patients and MSF is now focusing its attention on expanding its surgical capacity.
There are 25 new MSF staff members, including additional surgical teams, expected to join the organization's 800 international and Haitian staff already working there today.
