Lark Voorhies was the spunky and adorable Lisa Turtle on the 90's sitcom Saved by the Bell and when the actress went on Yahoo's The Yo Show earlier this year, which you can see below, to talk about her days on the show, her appearance caused concern.

Lark looked nothing like herself and she behaved bizarrely in later interviews. Her mom Tricia, 64, explained why.

Lark is battling mental illness. She is bipolar. Tricia told People that the disorder was caused from various traumatic incidents in her life, but she refused to go into specific detail.

“I don’t want to go there,” she said, however, she did say that when Save by the Bell ended in 1993 that  it caused her daughter “a lot of stress," and her divorce from Miguel Coleman in 2001 “caused a kind of break. … The trauma was back.”

Her mom wants her to be placed in professional care, but Lisa is opposed so for now they live together in Pasadena, California.

Tricia said, "I care deeply about my daughter and I want her to resume her life … it's frustrating,"

"She's trying so hard. She says she's delayed, but she's going to get there."
