When filming a remake of the iconic Psycho shower scene in the upcoming flick Hitchcock (a scene she also interpreted for the December cover of V magazine), ScarJo admits that, yes, she was indeed naked and wouldn't have had it any other way.
"We only had the luxury to shoot the scene for a day, and everybody was feeling very nervous because it involved water and nobody wants the actor to get wet," she says. "They were concerned with modesty and all these things — but I don't care about any of that stuff and Janet Leigh (the original actress) never did either."
Psycho is the story of a young woman (Scarlett) who stays at a motel and meets an eccentric motel proprietor who ends up murdering her in the shower. Hitchcock, tells the love story between the legendary film director and his wife, Alma Reville, while the flick was shot was in 1959.
While being nude wasn't scary for Scarlett, having co-star Anthony Hopkins point a 12-inch kitchen knife at her face was "terrifying."
"Maybe I watched Silence of the Lambs too many times when I was a kid," she said. "Maybe I was having some flashbacks. So I didn't need too much preparation for the scene."
Being able to act on command without much preparation is one of Scarlett's hidden talents, says Psycho director, Sacha Gervasi.
"That's the great thing about Scarlett—she's all chilled out and then you call, 'Action!' and she just goes nuts…She gave everything," he said. "She is a real screamer."
Hitchcock co-stars Jessica Biel, Helen Mirren and Toni Collette and is set for an early 2013 release.
