Scott Disick Says He's Decided Against Marriage— Why Do We Care So Much?

In a new interview with Ryan Seacrest, Scott Disick updated us yet again about his stance on marriage with Kourtney Kardashian—or rather, on Kourtney's stance on marriage with him.

"I feel like I used to want to get married more than she did," said Scott. "And then being that she was always so not interested, I've decided not to be." This seems like a very mature compromise for the long-term couple, which is pretty much what long-term relationships are all about.

Why do we care so much about whether or not Scott and Kourtney get formally married? They are, as far as I'm concerned, far and away the most stable couple in the entire Kardashian family. (I hated that subplot about Kris Jenner seeing her old flame and Bruce finding out—don't anybody mess with poor Bruce, please).

Yes, Khloe Kardashian Odom and Lamar Odom are adorable together and truly inspiring in a soul-mates-exist kind of way. But they also got married after knowing each other for three weeks. Kourtney and Scott have been dating on and off for at least seven years—all through his hard-partying 20s and her enormously rising fame. He fits well with the Kardashian family (something that Kris Humphries and Miles Austin could not say). And they are raising two beautiful kids together. This is a real relationship... even without a nationally televised ceremony.
