When Selena Gomez recently decided to launch her own namesake fragrance, she could have gone to close pals like Taylor Swift or boyfriend Justin Bieber, who have experience designing scents, for advice.
Instead, the 19-year-old decided to go through the process with the help of her fans, but made sure to get her celebrity friends’ opinions when the final product was complete.
“She smelled mine and she loves it,” Selena told reporters of Taylor, creator of "Wonderstruck" Eau De Parfum, adding, “Its good to have her approval.”
Boyfriend Justin came out with his own perfume "Someday" last summer, with one of the most successful celebrity scent launches to date.
“He liked it a lot,” Selena gushed of the Never Say Never singer’s reaction to her own concoction, making sure to point out that there is “no” sense of rivalry between the couple at all.
The Texas-native, who got input on different notes from her fans with an online voting campaign, may not have used Justin or Taylor for direct help, but admitted that they are a big part of her inspiration.
“Everything I do is inspired by something whether its [Justin] or my family or my fans. It is a little bit of me in everything I do.”
Selena’s first fragrance "Selena Gomez" will be available at Macy’s in May.
