A production spokesman, Rick Miramonetz, confirmed to the New York Times on Monday that Paul has been brought on by producers to help improve the performance, vocal and orchestration arrangements, and sound quality of songs of the show.

This announcement came one day after the New York Post reported that producers decided to hire a co-director to work with Julie Taymor. It was reported that they asked Philip William McKinley to come on board, but Miramontez said no one has been hired and “there is no truth to the rumor of a co-director.”

The show's official opening has now been set for March 15, so Bogaev will need to make any changes to the $64-million show quickly.

Miramontez said his role will be greater than just adding the new music Bono and the Edge are writing now for the show.
