Stars Tweet with Excitement Over Passage of NY's Gay Marriage Bill

Within moments of the passage of New York’s gay marriage bill on Friday night, legalizing same-sex marriage in the state, celebrities rushed to Twitter to share their excitement over the momentous event.

Gay rights supporter Lady Gaga couldn’t hold back her tears of joy, tweeting about the new law, “I can't stop crying. We did it kids.”

Fellow singer Pink, who recently gave birth to her first child with hubby Carey Hart, was equally as excited by the big news.

“CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! ABOUT TIME!” the 31-year-old tweeted on Friday.

Glee’s Jane Lynch cheered, “Yippee New York for gay marriage!” The 50-year-old, openly gay actress married Dr. Laura Embry last year in Massachusetts, the first state to grant same-sex marriage licenses.

Alec Baldwin applauded Sex and the City’s Cynthia Nixon for her efforts in supporting the measure, exclaiming on Twitter, “congrats, again, to Cynthia Nixon for all of her hard work on behalf of marriage equality!”

New York is now the sixth state within the nation to recognize gay marriage.
