Stephen Baldwin is claiming Kevin Costner and his business partner “schemed” him out of making millions from the BP oil disaster and now he’s suing.
According to TMZ, Stephen claims Kevin allegedly tricked him into selling shares in a company that builds machines that separate oil from water.
The lawsuit, filed in Louisiana federal court, claims Stephen decided to become a 10% partner in an invention backed by Kevin for the machine that was developed while filming Waterworld.
Kevin and his partners, according to the lawsuit, made it appear that Kevin had sold his shares in the company, but instead he was still invested. Stephen also claims that the company misrepresented that there was no deal to sell the machine to BP, TMZ reports.
Stephen claims he was tricked into selling his shares back to the company so Kevin and his partners could make a bigger profit from their already signed deal with BP.
According to TMZ, the deal with BP was valued at more than $52 million.
