The theme may have been Classical Week on Dancing With the Stars but according to voters, it looks like retired boxer Sugar Ray Leonard was anything but. Last night during week four of the competition, showman Sugar Ray got the one-two punch to leave the show despite his all-time highest score. After the jump, find out what he said about the whole experience!
Sugar Ray told OK! that just because he’s no longer on the show doesn’t mean he’s giving up his dancing shoes entirely. “I will continue to do the fox-trot. And, well, ballet — talk to my wife about that.” He also told reporters he was a little surprised to leave the party so soon! “Well, you know, everyone has an optimism about themselves, and I’m very confident that I did enough to maintain. But that’s life.”
He added, “Life is surprising sometimes. Life is shocking sometimes. But you know what? I’ve taken my ups, I’ve got down, and I’ve always gotten back up.”
It sounds like he’s cherishing the friends he’s made, the camaraderie and spirit of the show, and most definitely his dancing partner, Anna Trebunskaya, whom he referred to as “the incredible young lady here — my wonderful partner.”
So, as he says his final goodbyes to the cast, Sugar Ray gave some advice for future Dancing With the Stars hopefuls: “Go for it! Put your heart in it and trade hard and concentrate and enjoy!”
