Drs. Terry Dubrow and Paul Nassif aren’t newcomers to reality television, but instead of sitting on the sidelines on their respective Real Housewives series, they are each taking the lead on E!’s new series Botched, which explores the efforts the two plastic surgeons make to correct some truly horrendous procedures.
With years and years of experience in the plastic surgery arena, these guys have seen it all, but one celebrity patient in particular gave them a little more than they bargained for—and that would be one Janice Dickinson.
“Janice…Janice was a lot of fun,” said Terry at NBC-Universal’s Summer Press Day last week in Pasadena, Calif.
“That’s the right word for it,” Paul chimed in.
So just how difficult was it to work with the original supermodel?
“If you look at previous paparazzi photos of Janice, she has had plastic surgery on her chest that hasn’t really worked out very well,” explains Terry. “You can really sort of see a lot of what we call rippling after breast augmentation. And she’s a very thin-skinned, very low body fat, super model. So she had multiple previous surgeries, so the challenge for her was to try to fix her breasts in a way that would allow her to walk the red carpet and not be made fun of.”
As Terry started working with her, he noticed two major sets of challenges.
“One, anatomically, it was very difficult because of her body structure,” he says. “And two, Janice was very difficult. If you watch the program, you’re going to get a real dose like I did, like we did, of Janice Dickinson. I mean we were ‘Janice’d’ to the extreme. And unfortunately, some of the things I was very concerned about with Janice emotionally came to fruition. So I don’t want to…you’ve got to watch it. I had a couple of tough nights taking care of Janice Dickinson, I can tell you.”
Botched will premiere this September on E!.
