The results are in! Tim Allen made his return to television sitcoms last night with his new show Last Man Standing and it looks like there were plenty of fans who tuned in!
How were the ratings?
Well, Tim’s show could use some improvements, but it’s still standing!
According to The Washing Post, Last Man Standing premiered to just under 13 million viewers in ABC’s 8 p.m. time slot. The show picked up viewers in its second half-hour, which means it had a solid debut.
The ratings make Last Man Standing the biggest 8 p.m. comedy debut on TV in over 7 years!
However, there was some criticism today of the show regarding a joke Tim’s character made in the premiere.
“I just don’t think your kid should go to that school,” Tim’s character Mike says. “You know how that ends up: Boyd dancing on a float.”
According to Entertainment Weekly, some viewers are calling the joke homophobic.
But Tim previously defended it before the show even aired during a press tour saying, “It wasn’t meant to be offensive,” Allen added. “It was meant to be a reflection on this guy’s limited perspective.”
Will you continue watching Last Man Standing?
The real test will be when the show starts competing with Glee in November!
