On August 19, famed director Tony Scott committed suicide by leaping to his death from the Vincent Thomas Bridge at the Los Angeles Harbor around 12:30 p.m. Reports surfaced the following day stating the 68-year-old had terminal brain cancer, which fueled speculation that could have been the reason Scott ended his life.

However, LA Coroner Chief Craig Harvey says his family is disputing that claim.

"According to family spokespersons, the information concerning brain cancer or an inoperable brain tumor in Mr. Scott is incorrect," he says.

As of now, the coroner has not released details regarding Scott's medical condition.

The British-born filmmaker is known for Hollywood blockbuster hits such as Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cop II, Enemy of the State, Spy Game, and the remake of The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3. He also served as an executive producer on CBS' The Good Wife.

He is survived by his wife Donna Scott, their young twin boys and his brother Ridley Scott, who directed Alien and Gladiator.
