Can you believe Twitter is seven years old already?
Since it began, Twitter has changed how celebrities communicate—for better and worse. Check out my selection of seven tweets to celebrate seven years, and make sure to follow us on Twitter @OKMagazine!
Twitter founder Jack Dorsey sent the very first tweet ever back on March 21, 2006.

Through the years, the famous have sometimes used Twitter for major moments, like when Barack Obama was elected President in 2008.
We just made history. All of this happened because you gave your time, talent and passion. All of this happened because of you. Thanks

Other times, it's used for damage control. Like when Kanye West apologized to Taylor Swift twelve months after he stormed the stage while she was accepting the Best Female Video award at the 2009 MTV VMAs.
Still, other celebrities, such as Pink, use it to poke fun at their peers!
And some, well, they take to Twitter for a little validation when they're feeling insecure. Yes, that means you Martha Stewart!
Back in September, Lindsay Lohan took to Twitter to question the cruelties of life when Amanda Bynes got in trouble. Of course, the original tweet has since been deleted, but thankfully there's still a copy.
In the end, Ellen DeGeneres probably captured the whole phenomenon best when she joined Twitter back in 2009.
