Journalists take note: Vanessa Paradis is not in the mood to chat about her failed relationship with Johnny Depp.
The French actress and singer is currently promoting her latest flick, Cornouaille, and got testy with a writer from French Elle who asked her a question about Johnny.
"I don't want to talk about him," she said. "Who said that artists should sell their soul, expose everything about themselves? It's my duty to promote this movie, and my albums, but can you imagine what it feels like to see people making a business out of your pain… What's happened to us is our concern."
Amidst months of speculation, Johnny and Vanessa announced their split in June after 14 years and two children (Lily-Rose and Jack) together. While the two remained amicable (and even, dare we say, a little flirtatious?) during a reunion in France a few weeks ago, judging from Vanessa's comments, a reconciliation is not in progress.
"I hate, for example, whenever you hear someone say: 'You have work at being a couple,'" she said. "No, you have to want to be there… and for me, I want to be right where I am right now.'"
However, Vanessa also talked to Harper's Bazaar earlier this summer during the Cabourg Romantic Film Festival in France, where the actress hinted very strongly at being unhappy.
"Love is the strongest and most fragile thing we have in life… nothing is ever for sure, but when something in love doesn't work from the beginning, it's never going to work. Don't push it," she said. "Sometimes you could be in an unhappy relationship; you are very much in love with someone, but it's making you unhappy and you think things can change and you can work it out."
Meanwhile, Johnny was rumored to have romanced his Rum Diary co-star Amber Heard, but any relationship seems to have cooled in the past month.
