The whole point of America’s Got Talent — and its UK counterpart Britain’s Got Talent — is to find those diamonds in the rough, those unpolished gems who would have gone undiscovered their entire lives had it not been for a chance to show their stuff on the hit NBC show.

And just like BGT, which this past spring discovered the year’s most unlikely talent in the voice of middle-aged Briton Susan Boyle, it looks like America’s Got Talent might have stumbled on the next big thing.

His name is Kevin Skinner, and out-of-work farmer whose tales of chicken wrangling and down-home drawl had the audience at Tuesday night’s audition show laughing in their seats.

But when Kevin began strumming his guitar and opened his mouth to sing, any thoughts that he was just another starry-eyed amateur went by the wayside.

Check the clip out for yourself, and watch America’s Got Talent, Tues. and Wed. nights on NBC.
