822x_edited-6Last night in yet another surprising elimination, Elizabeth Berkley-Lauren and her pro dance partner Val Chmerkovskiy were sent packing despite routinely receiving high scores from the judges throughout the competition.

“That saying ‘Don’t be sad that it’s over, smile because it happened’—I’m just gonna live with that,” said a tearful Elizabeth backstage after the show. “I felt a little bit sucker punched because I was excited about next week. I just feel cut short a little bit. Not that I felt entitled by any means, I just felt excited and grateful.”

Even though the actress is exiting the ballroom she says there are big things on the horizon.

“I’ll share it with you when it’s all official and signed,” Elizabeth said. “I never talk about things until they’re real. I’m not a talker but I’m a doer.”

The other celebrity contestants were stunned by the elimination. Corbin Bleu embraced his former competitor backstage before she and Val headed off to catch a plane to New York for an appearance on Good Morning America on Tuesday.

“Why I think it hurts so much (to lose) Elizabeth, we had the dance-off with her and even though it seems like a rivalry it actually developed a really great bond,” says Corbin. “Her and Val, between Karina and I, we really loved the competition and it’s a friendly competition.”

Aside from Corbin, still in the running for the mirror ball trophy are Amber Riley, Jack Osbourne, Leah Remini and Bill Engvall, whose fans have enabled him to make it to the semifinals next week with their votes despite receiving the lowest judges’ scores.

So will the best dancer actually win this season’s competition or will it go to the celeb who is simply the most entertaining? Because while Bill may not have the same fancy footwork as Corbin and Amber, the man certainly knows how to put on a fun show.

“Emma (Slater, Bill’s pro partner) puts together really entertaining choreography,” says Bill. “We had the salsa steps we were supposed to have and Carrie Ann said there wasn’t enough flip in my knees but my knees don’t flip.”

“He brings that massive amount of entertainment,” says Emma. “And maybe that’s his strong point. But we’re here every week and as long as we are here we’re gonna bring our A game and we’re not gonna hold back because we feel guilty or anything.”

Catch the remaining couples battle it out for the trophy during the semifinals next Monday at 8 PM on ABC.
