Whitney Houston's Body Released to Her Family and Funerals Plans are Underway

Whitney Houston passed away at 48 on Saturday and shocked the world with the loss of this great talent.

But what everyone wants to know is... what happened? Were drugs involved, since Whitney has long-battled an addiction?

Well, the autopsy has been completed, but it could be awhile before the results are made public as the coroner is not saying what killed the Grammy winner.

Per CBS News, Beverly Hills Police Lt. Mark Rosen said that they may release more details today about Whitney's death, but it depends if the detective are comfortable releasing any information. It has been revealed that there were no illegal substances found in the singer's hotel room, but there were prescription drugs.

Authorities say the most likely theories for her death are that she died of a heart attack or a prescription drug overdose, CBS reports.

Since the autotopsy is complete, the body has been released to Whitney's family so funeral arrangements can begin.

"The family is making arrangements," Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said Monday. "I don't know when the family is going to have her body picked up. But they are making arrangements and sometimes it takes a couple days."
