With the skyrocketing popularity of Mad Men, January Jones, aka Betty Draper, is definitely a rising star these days. But in a new interview in November's issue of GQ magazine, January reveals that a former boyfriend tried to discourage her from ever becoming an actress in the first place. Oh yeah, and she just so happens to have dated Ashton Kutcher.
“The guy I was dating when I first got to L.A. was not supportive of my acting," says January. "He was like, I don't think you're going to be good at this. So – f— you! He only has nice things to say now – if anything, I should thank him. Because the minute you tell me I can't do something, that's when I'm most motivated."
January's received high praise for her acting on Mad Men, perhaps none higher than from legend Jack Nicholson. The veteran actor, despite having worked with January on Anger Management, watched her for almost a season of the show without realizing it was her!
“That was pretty awesome,” she says of getting the call from Jack. "It was a kind of vindication, especially since not everyone in Hollywood has always been so positive.
