The Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice is pressed for cash after pleading guilty along with her husband, Joe, 43, to fraud and tax evasion last month. “I hear they’ve been begging people for money,” says RHONJ frequent guest star Kim Granatell. “Desperate people do desperate things.”
Costco no longer sells Teresa’s Skinny Italian food line or Fabellini sparkling wine, says a source, and another insider adds that Teresa, 41, has been selling her autograph at appearances to raise cash. “She’s definitely depressed,” says a source.
No wonder! It’s not just the $88,000 in legal fees they owe: the couple tried to put off paying over $13 million in debt to creditors—mostly banks—by filing for bankruptcy in 2009.
But the bankruptcy trustee filed a final report April 8 saying the two had paid only $7,500 and still owe more than $13.4 million to their creditors—who may now resume trying to get their money back. The pair don’t even own their enormous homes—according to the trustee, Teresa and Joe owe more on the properties than they are worth!
