Strippergate: David made headlines during Semifinals Week 2 when a former boss revealed that he had worked as a stripper in a gay club for three years before auditioning for Idol. Two contestants have been thrown off the show in previous seasons for having similar backgrounds, but producers said they would not take any action against David.

The Day Job: In spite of the spotlight being shone on his resume, David has told Idol viewers that he was working in a pizza bistro and studying before coming on the show.

A Lease an' Keys: David is currently homeless after he broke the lease on his apartment and sold most of his belonging before going to LA for the semifinals.
