Smart Guy:
David has admitted that he thinks it is important to stay in school even if he becomes the next American Idol. He was a straight A student until last term, when he got one B. He puts there errant grade down to travelling more with his music. David, along with the other teen contestants, has to spend three hours in class every day during the competition.

Utah Star: AI isn't David's first national TV talent contest. He also won the Junior Singers contest on Star Search when he was 12. He was invited back to compete in the second 'champions' round, but he developed vocal paralysis and was knocked out in a early round.

Baby Face: David, who is just 5'6'' tall, says that he looks so young that people often think he is younger than his 13-year-old brother.

No Girls!: David has said that he isn't interested in having a girlfriend because he is too young and would rather concentrate on his music and studies.

Embarrassing Moment: He says that his most embarrassing moment was when his voice gave out during a benefit show in Honduras and his mom had to finish the song for him.

He Cannot Tell A Lie: David claims that he is always honest, even refusing to help pull pranks that involve playing along with friends, because "that's like lying".

Health Scare: David's singing career almost finished before it got started, after a severe bout of bronchitis paralysed one of his vocal cords.

Family: David's mom is from Honduras and his dad, Jeff, is from Utah. Jeff Archuleta is a jazz musician. David has one brother and three sisters. He is the second oldest.

Born Performer: When he met some of the AI season one finalists, including Kelly Clarkson, David, then just 11, gave an improptu performance that left them gobsmacked by his precocious talents.

Contest Veteran: David won his won his competition at ten years old, when his mother entered him in a Utah state talent contest. At the Salt Palace Convention Center, Salt Lake City, in 2001, David wowed the judges with a rendition of Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You. He took home a trophy and $200.

Idol Addict: When David discovered Idol, aged 11, he was gripped. His mother says that every week he watched the shows over and over on VHS until he knew every song.

First Concert: N Sync.

Dr. David: If he doesn't make it as a singer, David reportedly says he wants to be an ear, nose and throat doctor.
