Star Wars VII is officially filming! After the exciting casting news a few weeks back, the movie is moving full steam ahead, as evidence by the photo that director JJ Abrams just posted to Instagram. The movie is set for release in 2015.
“#dayone” reads the caption on Abrams’ photo of a clapboard bearing the name of the movie as well as his own name. Filming may have started today, but they have a long way to go. The movie will not come out until December 18, 2015, which means there is a long summer of work ahead.
As previously announced, the film will reunite original stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and many more, along with new cast members like Girls‘ Adam Driver, and Inside Llewyn Davis star Oscar Isaac. Fans are divided, with some being disappointed they’re resurrecting the franchise and others just feeling psyched to see what Abrams can do!
