Welcome to New Tunes Tues, where we tell you what newly released songs/albums/music videos etc require your attention immediately. It’s a big week for pop music because Shakira released her new, self-titled album, we found out that P. Diddy is returning to music and going back to his old moniker, Puff Daddy, AND Lady Gaga released a music video starring the Real Housewives. But alas, there’s more! Here’s this week’s music releases you need to know about ASAP.
Justin Timberlake, “Not a Bad Thing.” Normally we’d be furious that Justin Timberlake put out a music video that he’s NOT EVEN IN, but we’ll forgive it with this one. This documentary-style video takes us on the search for a recently-engaged couple who got engaged after the guy popped the question with a JT song. Take a look:
Jay Electronica ft. Jay Z, “We Made It.” Music peeps are talking about this new song, because in this version, Jay Electronica and Jay Z literally just rap right over the original song of the same title, sung by Drake and Soulja Boy. The whole thing is kinda weird but somehow, it’s kinda working:
Chris Brown ft. Lil Wayne and Tyga, “Loyal.” You’ve certainly heard this song on the radio, and now you can see it come to life with the music video, which Chris directed himself! BTW, yes, that is Usher you spotted about midway through wearing a fake raccoon on his head. Um…
Cash Cash ft. John Rzeznik, “Lighting.” This song is so Goo Goo Dolls, it’s unreal. Know why? Because the band’s frontman John Rzezenik sings lead vocals on this track! But it’s better than a typical Goo Goo Dolls song because it features Cash Cash’s techno vibes in the chorus, making this track perfect in every way. PS, you can buy Cash Cash’s new EP on iTunes now!
Karmin, “Puppet.” Our favorite pop duo released their first full-length album, Pulses, today, and we’ve already listened to the entire thing So, we can officially confirm that aside from the first single, “Acapella,” “Puppet” is our favorite song, which Amy and Nick told us happens to be their fave, too! Check out the song that they say is about “strong women and manipulating people,” which they worked on with fellow pop-duo 3OH!3.
