Britney Spears' camp is taking a strong stance behind a recent report that the star's boyfriend, Jason Trawick, abused her. Her rep is also debunking an audio recording purported to be a conversation between the pop princess and her ex-husband Jason Alexander (who she was married to for only 55 hours back in 2004) which perpetuated the belief that Jason hit Britney.

In the recording, the male voice asks the female on the other end of the line if her "fiancé" proposed to her on a beach.

The female — identified as Britney on Radar Online — pauses before asking, "Before or after he beat on me?"

“The statements attributed to Jason Alexander are a complete fabrication as Britney has not had any form of communication with Mr. Alexander in years," a rep for Britney released in a statement. "The audio recording posted on Radaronline this morning purporting to be between Britney Spears and Jason Alexander is so obviously fake as to be laughable.”

“Suffice it to say, that Jason Trawick has never laid a hand on Britney. This is just another example of the irresponsible nature of the tabloid media relying on shoddy sources and false information for the sole purpose of selling magazines, without regard to the truth and without regard to who they hurt in the process," the rep added. "These irresponsible statements are defamatory and Britney Spears’ legal team will be taking legal action against all of the appropriate parties.”
