Say it isn't so! When it comes to celebrity marriages, surpassing five or even 10 years is a milestone but 25? Fughettaboutit. It seems locked in for the long haul, right? Despite their quarter century of marriage, Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger have announced their separation.

In a joint statement they told the Los Angeles Times (via E! News), "This has been a time of great personal and professional transition for each of us. After a great deal of thought, reflection, discussion and prayer, we came to this decision together. At this time, we are living apart while we work on the future of our relationship."

Maria has already moved out of their Brentwood mansion and although the former governor of California has hinted at a comeback in movies, Maria has continued to champion women's rights and Alzheimer's research. The statement continued, "We are continuing to parent our four children together. They are the light and the center of both of our lives. We consider this a private matter and neither we nor any of our friends or family will have further comment. We ask for compassion and respect from the media and the public."

Perhaps hindsight is 20/20 as Maria recently spoke on a YouTube video expressing uncertainty for the next chapter in her life, as per the Los Angeles Times. She was not wearing a wedding ring in late March when it aired and she mentioned, "It is so stressful to not know what you're doing next. I'd like to hear from other people in transition." She questioned,"How did you get through it? What were three things that enabled you to get through your transition?"
