MTV Issues Statement on 'Teen Mom' Amber Portwood's Hospitalization

As reports surface that MTV's Teen Mom star Amber Portwood is in the hospital for an alleged suicide attempt, the network is weighing in on the stories surrounding the reality mom.

MTV says: “Our understanding is that Amber has been admitted to a local hospital but we have not been able to confirm the accuracy of any reports being circulated and are waiting for further details. Our thoughts are with her and we hope to hear more soon.”

A friend close to Amber told OK! that she is now stabilized and awake, adding that she'd been taking morphine recently to deal with the pressures of filming and her custody battle for her daughter, Leah, who has been with dad Gary Shirley.

Amber's situation hasn't been very good lately, as the source tells OK!, “She can’t handle not seeing Leah. She really only gets to see her maybe once a week for an hour, and that’s it. And it’s supervised by the CPS."
